Please ask if you have further questions. - GB Dude, where's my page? Thanks again to all the artists helping to keep Livepoets happening, and again, if you haven't either made a donation or let me know you cannot afford it at this time, but still wish to have your page up, your page has been hidden. Not deleted, but hidden. If you'd like to remain a part of Livepoets, just let me know, and I will make it happen one way or the other. Write to me at multimediagrl@hotmail.com. (If you haven't gotten around to it, no big deal -- 46 out of 164 artists only responded. If there's someone you miss, let me know and I'll contact them.) And welcome back! - Gabrielle The Next Level 3.28.05 In an effort to continue to provide this service free of charge to audience members nationwide, livepoets.com will be taking donations and shortly moving to a membership-based service. Poets will be asked to pay $5/year for a basic listing on the site, $20/year to have streamed pieces hosted. The fees will go toward the cost of webspace hosting, software, and clip preparation. We will shortly be moving to a new host, which will allow us to return to and exceed our previous 50 freely streamed videopoems. Also, we will be moving to a Quicktime format, rather than Realplayer, at the request of many audience members. The website will be considered "Under construction" for the next few weeks, dropping down to a basic core of poets while we prepare to switch webhosts. Then we'll be back up to, and exceeding, our base of 164! Many thanks to staticfactorymedia.com for their faithful service to this project. Poets currently listed will be receiving an email shortly; should you wish to be listed, simply contact Gabrielle Bouliane at multimediagrl @ hotmail.com. Donations are also greatfully accepted. Thank you for your continued patience and support of livepoets! Should you wish to make a general donation, or pay for your page directly, please the PayPay button on the left. To make a payment by regular mail, please email Gabrielle at multimediagrl @ hotmail.com for the address. Format changes 4.05 As you may know, livepoets.com has been operating as a free service to centralize the spoken word community since 1992. Currently there are 164 poets listed, with a maximum of 50 freely streamed videopoems, the largest collection in the world. However, the site has grown to a point of traffic (averaging 600+ unique visits a day this year) that I am no longer able to support the costs of webhosting. As a result, we will be moving to a membership-based service. The cost of membership will be $5/year for a basic page, with additional hosting for streamed audio clips at $10/clip/year, or $20/streamed video clip/year. I am hoping to keep costs reasonable for all and still provide enough income to pay for growing the site beyond its current level. Should this prove to be prohibitive for you, but you would still like to remain on the site, please contact me to discuss. If you have been a contributor to livepoets in the last, please consider your first year (at the least) paid. Should you have any question in this regard, please contact me. There is now a functional paypal link on the site for any donations, or you may contact me at my home address, listed below. In the coming weeks, the site will be stripped down to a base level of core poets and then rebuilt at our new host, once monies to secure become available. I will *not* relist you once the move happens until I hear from you one way or the other as to whether you wish to remain on the site. This will also help to keep our pages current. Some of you may not be aware of your presence on the site, or may not have a page listed currently. The site has been a fairly organic construction, which began as a class project for me and grew with the help of a new design by Christopher Holmok. Most of you I know personally, or you have solicted me to become a member. Please double check your information, and feel free to email me any of the following updates, as I know some information is no longer current: -- Photo(s) -- website link -- public email contact -- bio + authors of public bios (in the early stages, some were "borrowed" from existing pages, before I was aware of the proper netiquette about this. Please allow me to correct this error.) -- location -- name change. If you would no longer like to be a part of the site, or did not know you were listed and disapprove, please contact me and you will be removed immediately. The site can also house calendar listings for events. I have in the past checked this somewhat sporadically (I approve each listing) so please contatc me personally at this address should you have something that needs rapid approval. Your participation and support is gratefully acknowledged. Thank you in advance for your assistance. I look forward to hearing from you.
